Our Approach

flōoat is guided by the Philosophy of Tea, an art of life about self-awareness. Our mission is to design high quality health teas and quiet objects that fit naturally into your modern lifestyle. We use only the highest quality of natural ingredients, sustainably sourced and packaged. We believe in the healing power of nature and its circular process. Here is a space for you to slow down - flōoat - and be mindful of your thoughts and body's balance, harmony, and energy.

Our Space

In The Classic of Tea (760), Lu Yu observes the rituals of tea spreading to the masses with the emergence of Tea Booths (Chatan) and Small Teahouses (Chaliao), shifting the identity of teahouses from refined architecture frequented by nobles to become an integral hub of Chinese communities - a place where neighbours met for news, socials, entertainment, and tea.

It is with this value that flōoat's tea room situates in London. Each month, the tea room hosts a variety of artists’ workshops and talks, meals and gatherings. On usual days, the tea room serves as a quiet space to work/study/connect. We hope flōoat becomes a second home one returns to when they’re looking for a community, a space to learn about different skills, and a moment to share thoughts with yourself and others through tea. Check Rituals+Spaces for upcoming events and reservations.

Our People

From a family who runs tea farms in the deep mountains of Wuyishan, China and exports to Suntory Group, Japan, flōoat founder, Lisa Chan, was brought up by tea culture and its value in wellness, meditation and self-awareness. With a background in architecture and curation, Lisa wanted to use her experience to create a collection of products that care for your body and mind in a slower, more thoughtful, and nonetheless contemporary, way of life.

We source our teas from tea farms in Hokkaido and Kochi Prefecture in Japan. We went through a long and thoughtful process to select the highest quality of suppliers whose teas are grown in their most natural habitat, without the use of pesticides and are hand-picked, vegan, and caffeine-free.

We commission our quiet objects from London-based, skilled and independent craftspeople who share our value in slow living & well-being. These objects aim to reflect the personality of the maker and speak to your way of life. We feel privileged to be able to work with such talented makers and designers.
